Delta Air Lines Offers Sale Fares to Select Caribbean and Latin American Destinations

ATLANTA, Sept. 23, 2002—Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is celebrating new and expanded service by offering sale fares from the United States to select Caribbean and Latin America destinations. The sale fares are as low as $381 (USD) round-trip.
Delta is offering the special sale fares as it expands service to the Caribbean and Latin America on Dec. 1, 2002. Delta will begin new service between Atlanta and Liberia, Costa Rica (Guanacaste region); St. Maarten, Netherlands, Antilles; and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. To Aruba, Delta will introduce a second Atlanta flight and new nonstop Saturday flights from New York’s Kennedy International Airport. At Cincinnati, Delta will expand its nonstop service to Nassau.
For travel from the U.S. to Nassau and Aruba, fares are valid Sept. 23, 2002, through Jan. 28, 2003. For travel from the U.S. to Liberia, Providenciales and St. Maarten, fares are valid commencing Dec. 1, 2002, through Jan. 28, 2003. Fares from the U.S. to Aruba and Nassau require a three day advance purchase. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 10, 2002, and all travel must be completed by Jan. 31, 2003. As an added bonus, Delta is offering discounts of up to five percent to customers purchasing tickets online at delta.com. To receive the discounts, customers simply purchase round-trip sale fares for travel from select U.S. cities to Liberia, Costa Rica; St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; Providenciales, Turks Caicos; Aruba; and Nassau, Bahamas.
Delta also is offering SkyMiles members the opportunity to earn double miles per round-trip on select non-stop Delta flights from the U.S. to Liberia, Costa Rica, St. Maarten, Providenciales, Turks Caicos, Aruba and Nassau.
A portion of travel may be on the following Delta Connection® carriers: Atlantic Coast Airlines, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Chautauqua, Comair, SkyWest and codeshare partner American Eagle.
Restrictions: Tickets are non-transferable. Seats are limited and fares may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Purchase Requirements: For travel from the U.S. to Aruba and Nassau, fares require a 3 day advance purchase. Fares are round-trip and require a round-trip purchase. Additional discount of up to 5% round-trip off published sale fares is available on delta.com through October 10, 2002, and cannot be obtained by calling Delta’s reservations center. Ticketing Period: Tickets must be purchased by October 10, 2002. For delta.com, purchase must be made at time of reservations confirmation and must be paid for using credit/check card only. For tickets not purchased on delta.com, purchase for travel must be made within 72 hours of reservations confirmation or by October 10, 2002 whichever comes first. Travel Period: Travel permitted to Nassau and Aruba September 23, 2002 through January 28, 2003. For other sale markets, travel permitted December 1, 2002 through January 28, 2003. All travel must be completed by January 31, 2003. Fare Validity: Fares are valid in the Economy (Coach) cabin on Delta/Delta Connection flights only. Upgrades are not permitted. Fares are valid for travel Monday through Thursday. Higher fares apply for travel Friday through Sunday. Minimum/Maximum Stay: Minimum stay is 3 days. Maximum stay is 30 days. Cancellations/Refunds: All fares are nonrefundable. Changes/Standby: Wholly unused tickets: Changes permitted upon upgrading to higher fare type plus any applicable fare difference. Any allowable changes must be made on or before the original ticketed time/travel date of each flight, otherwise the ticket will have no value. Partially used tickets: Date/Time changes only allowed only on return portion of itinerary for a fee of $100 per change, plus applicable fare difference, as long as rule requirements are satisfied. All changes must be made prior to the original date/time of departure, otherwise the ticket will have no value. Fares offered on delta.com do not apply for reissue/downgrade of previously purchased tickets. Taxes/Fees: Fares do not include a federal excise tax of $3.00 which will be imposed on each flight segment of your itinerary. A flight segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing. Fares do not include Passenger Facility Charge(s) of up to $18 depending on itinerary, and September 11th Security Fee of up to $10.00 per round-trip.. For Alaska, Hawaii, and other international destinations, International Air Transportation Tax of up to $6.60 each way applies. Fares do not include U.S. or international departure and arrival charges of $26.40, U.S. excise and foreign user, inspection, security or other similarly based charges, fees or taxes of up to $250.00, depending on itinerary. These fees are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time of purchase. Bonus Miles: Earn double miles per round-trip on non-stop DL operated flights from the U.S. to Liberia, Costa Rica (DL 295/366); ST. Maarten (DL 799/812); Providenciales, Turks Caicos (DL 521/632); Aruba (DL328/390/403/408); and Nassau (DL 647/660) through January 31st. Offer excludes U class. Bonus applies only to the traveling SkyMiles member. Allow 6-8 weeks after travel for bonus miles to appear on your mileage summary. All standard SkyMiles program rules and conditions apply.
