Prices will fall by up to 80 per cent on British Airways` flights to Spain, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary and Luxembourg from tomorrow (Thursday 29 August), completing the launch of year-round low fares on 170 key routes to Europe by the airline.

Saturday night stay and advance purchase restrictions have now been scrapped for new lower year-round air tickets on 41 new routes including 12 new domestic routes operated by British Airways’ wholly owned subsidiary British Airways CitiExpress.

Fully inclusive prices start from £69 return from London to Brussels and £99 return from London to Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao.

Martin George, British Airways Director of Marketing said: “We are the first airline to offer a full service at no frills prices on almost 6,500 flights a week, putting us firmly back on the agenda for air travel to Europe.

“Already, we have seen passenger numbers increase by 16 per cent on flights to Holland and Scandinavia and on domestic routes from London since we started to launch our new low fares in the Spring.”

The lowest return air fare previously on offer by the carrier required a Saturday night stay and advance purchase. The removal of these restrictions means that a midweek return flight from London to Brussels will now cost from £69 including taxes instead of £359, saving £290.

Holidaymakers can escape to warmer climates and make major savings. A midweek return flight from London to Barcelona will now cost from £99 including taxes, instead of £583 saving £484.

Peak and off peak tickets as well as restricted and flexible fares can be combined to get the best possible price on a flight which suits a customers needs. For example, a business traveller in the economy cabin can combine a cheaper fixed outbound flight to Madrid with a flexible return paying £324 instead of £544, saving £220.
