Delta Air Lines Codeshare with SAA

ATLANTA, GA, August 21, 2002—Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today announced plans to start codeshare service via Johannesburg, South Africa, three times per week connecting the United States with Uganda beginning September 1, 2002 on South African Airways’ Boeing 737 flights to Kampala (Entebbe Airport), Uganda.


In making the announcement, Ben Darnell, director, Alliances, said, “This is another example of the strong relationship between South African Airways and Delta to provide choices for customers traveling to Sub-Saharan Africa. This is just one of a series of strategic steps Delta and South African Airways are taking to improve access to points around the globe by offering more frequent service to more cities.”


Delta and South African Airways currently provide direct codeshare service between New York (JFK) and Atlanta to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. Delta also codeshares on South African Airways flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London, and George, South Africa; Nairobi, Kenya; Windhoek, Namibia; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Lusaka, Zambia


South African Airways codeshares on Delta flights from Atlanta and New York (JFK) to Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, and Tampa, Fla.; Washington D.C., Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Seattle, Detroit, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Baltimore, Phoenix, St. Louis, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; Portland, Ore.; Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Newark, N.J.; and Salt Lake City.
