ATLANTA, Aug. 19, 2002 - Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) now offers door-to-door pickup and delivery service to customers traveling with oversized luggage and sports equipment through a new relationship with Sports Express, a sports equipment delivery company.

Customers no longer will have to carry bulky sports equipment or oversized luggage to the airport. Instead, they are encouraged to use the insured, guaranteed services of Sports Express for convenient, point-to-point delivery of all luggage, golf clubs, skis, bikes, snowboards, boot bags and gear bags. Customers interested in using Sports Express should go online to or call toll-free 866-289-9664 for more information. Customers using the promotion code “DeltaDelivers” will receive a $5 discount.

“This new delivery service is another way that Delta is reducing airport hassle,” said Pat Rary, Delta’s manager of baggage. “Sports Express provides our customers a unique, convenient option with personalized service. When you arrive to your travel destination, your clubs or other sports equipment will be delivered to you.”

The cost of this service can start as low as $31 one-way; pickup and delivery of a set of golf clubs starts at $36 and is solely dependent on travel origination and destination. Sports Express offers service to the continental U.S., England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Service is expected to reach Canada, Mexico and Western Europe by the end of the year.

“Delta is an industry leader in service and innovation, and this is another example of Delta’s commitment to providing their customers with the best travel experience available,” said Joseph Marqua, chief executive officer of Sports Express. “Our system provides travelers with a convenient and highly reliable way to get their baggage and sports equipment where and when they want it, without worry. We look forward to serving Delta customers with this cutting-edge convenience.”
