“Still No Deal” Says Virgin Blue

THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS WERE FORWARDED TO TCN CHAN 9 å“BUSINESS SUNDAYå” FOR THE INTERVIEW WITH VIRGIN BLUE CEO BRETT GODFREY.  THEY APPEAR HERE AS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD.
QUESTION 1

ACCORDING TO THE BUSINESS SUNDAY INTERVIEW OF BRETT GODFEY ON 9 JUNE 2002, VIRGIN BLUE HAD NOT COMPLETED A DEAL WITH SACL, YET NOW - SOME TWO MONTHS LATER, AND ON THE SAME BUSINESS PROGRAM - VIRGIN BLUE IS CLAIMING THAT A DEAL WAS FINALISED IN APRIL 2002 ?
QUESTION 2
WHY IF A DEAL WAS COMPLETED IN APRIL 2002, WHY WAS VIRGIN BLUE STILL WRITING TO SACL LATER IN MAY AND JUNE ADVISING THAT THERE WERE SIGNIFICANT ISSUES STILL TO RESOLVED AND VIRGIN BLUE BOARD AND SHAREHOLDER REVIEWS YET TO BE UNDERTAKEN?
QUESTION 3
IF A DEAL WAS COMPLETED IN APRIL 2002, WHY WERE PUBLIC STATEMENTS BEING ISSUED BY VIRGIN BLUE AFTER THIS DATE THAT CLEARLY INDICATE THAT NEGOTIATIONS WERE STILL UNDERWAY.  IN FACT, VIRGIN BLUE REQUESTED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF NEGOTIATIONS IN EARLY JUNE 2002.  WHY WOULD VIRGIN BLUE NEED TO ASK THE GOVERNMENT THIS IN JUNE, IF A DEAL WAS - AS THEY CONTINUE TO CLAIM - COMPLETED IN APRIL 2002?
