American Express announces a loyalty program partnership with Virgin Blue
Thursday 8 August 2002 - American Express today announced a new Membership Rewards partnership with Virgin Blue.
Under the agreement, American Express Membership Rewards program members will be able to exchange their points for new, paperless Virgin Blue Vouchers, which can be redeemed against Virgin Blue fares through the airline’s call centre.
“This partnership gives our Membership Rewards customers more options to fly in Australia and they can get their flights faster,” said John Steward, American Express Vice President and General Manager Australia.
“Rather than waiting for enough points to pay for a flight in full, customers can redeem points for Virgin Vouchers which can then be put towards any flights in Australia. There will be no ‘black out periods’ or capacity controls - customers can redeem against any fare, at any time, on any date.”
The Virgin Blue Vouchers will be available to American Express Membership Rewards program members from October 1, 2002.
