Qantas and oneworld? alliance partner American Airlines will expand their codeshare agreement from 1 March, to include Qantas domestic and trans-Tasman flights.
American Airlines will codeshare on selected Qantas flights between Auckland, Sydney and Brisbane, effective from 1 March and selected flights between Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Cairns, effective from 29 March.
Qantas Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Dixon, said the new services would supplement existing codeshare flights operated by Qantas between Los Angeles and Sydney, and Los Angeles and Melbourne via Auckland.
“The expansion will forge closer links between the two airlines as we embark on the new global alliance oneworld?, with British Airways, Canadian Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways,” Mr Dixon said.
Qantas already codeshares on American Airlines services between Los Angeles and Boston, New York, Miami, Washington DC, Chicago, Newark and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Qantas and American Airlines are two of the five founding members of the oneworld? global alliance which commenced on 1 February.
