AirAsia & GE Engine Services Sign Major Engine Maintenance Agreement Worth Over US$20 Million

AirAsia, Asia`s first and only low fare airline is proud to announce its new alliance with GE Engine Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd (GEES Malaysia). This alliance covers the maintenance and servicing of all AirAsia aircraft engines. The five year deal is valued at US$20 million.

GE began servicing jet aircraft engines over 50 years ago. Today, GE Engine is the world`s leading producer of large and small jet engines for commercial and military aircraft as well as engines for marine and industrial applications. They are also a leading provider of integrated engine maintenance services.

AirAsia selected to use GE`s overhaul facility in Malaysia to carry out engine maintenance on the CFM56-3 engines which power AirAsia`s fleet of five Boeing 737-300 aircraft. AirAsia decided on GEES Malaysia after heavy competition from other such service providers in the Asian and European regions. AirAsia is extremely proud to be using an engine overhaul facility based in their home country: Malaysia!

We are pleased to be chosen as AirAsia`s engine maintenance provider. GEES Malaysia`s product knowledge and expertise will help AirAsia meet their customer commitments as they continue to accelerate their growth.”
- Dan Heintzelman, President and CEO of GE Engine Services.

AirAsia has entered into a five year contract with GEES Malaysia for overhauling of their narrow body aircraft engines. The contract has no limit to the number of engines to be overhauled.

This partnership works in perfect harmony with AirAsia`s policy to provide safe and reliable service to its passengers.

“We at AirAsia are very happy to have an engine maintenance provider with such a distinguished and reliable reputation. With GEES providing our engine overhauls we can be confident of the safety and reliability of our engines.
