Ryanair Shareholders Approve Contract To Purchase Up To 150 Boeing Aircraft


Ryanair shareholders today 7th August at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) approved the Boeing contract to purchase 100 firm 737-800 aircraft and up to 50 rolling options. The aircraft have a market value of $5bn and are to be delivered between December 2002 and December 2008.
Commenting on the approval of the contract Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary said,

“We are pleased that the shareholders have demonstrated their continuing commitment to grow the airline and approved the acquisition of 100 new Boeing 737-800 and up to 50 options. This is a further element of our long term growth strategy which will enable us to offer even lower fares to more European consumers over the next eight years”.
