British Midland Wins Prestigious Business Travel Award

At a star-studded event held yesterday in London, British Midland out shone the competition to scoop Best Short Haul Airline 2000. The award was presented by her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordon on behalf of Business Traveller Magazine.

This is the first time British Midland, the UK’s second largest scheduled airline, has won the award moving up from third position last year. Readers of Business Traveller magazine highlighted the airline’s expanded route network to additional major business destinations and its recent membership of Star Alliance as key factors benefiting the short haul business traveller.

British Midland was up against 10 other airlines in the category including national flag carriers British Airways, Swissair and KLM.

On accepting the award, James Hogan, chief operating officer said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, particularly as it is voted for by business travellers. It is acknowledgement from our customers that the continual developments we make to our short haul service and product are recognised and valued.

“Our route launches earlier this year to Rome, Milan and Madrid have proved to be extremely popular and we have every confidence that the new route to Barcelona, which launches on 1 November, will prove to be equally successful.

“Of course there is an additional aspect to winning this award. It demonstrates our continued commitment to short haul services whilst preparing for the launch of transatlantic routes from Manchester next spring.”
