British Midland Appoints New Chief Operating Officer

British Midland has announced the appointment of James Hogan to the new position of chief operating officer, with effect from 6 April 1999. Hogan, who previously worked for British Midland as service director, will also join the board of the airline. Based in London he will be reporting directly to Austin Reid, group managing director and will be responsible for the operations, customer services, commercial, sales and marketing divisions of the airline.

Austin Reid group managing director said,

This is new key appointment not only reflects the positive contribution that James made during his time as our service director, but more importantly, will help to ensure that the airline is properly structured for any future expansion. Already this year the airline has announced the launch of new services to Budapest and Moscow, as well as increasing services to Warsaw and further developments in our co-operation with Lufthansa.“James is joining us at a very important time in the development of the airline and I am delighted that he will be bringing his vast wealth of experience and expertise to this new position.”

Hogan, 42 is currently employed by Forte Hotels as world wide sales director and has previously held marketing, sales and operations roles with Hertz International in Europe and Australia.
