Mule Elected Senior Vice President, Customer Service

America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) today
announced the election of Anthony Mule to senior vice president, customer
service.  In his new role, Mule will oversee all aspects of America West`s
airport operations and airport customer service, and on-board customer
service, including catering and flight attendants.

“Anthony is an excellent airline operations executive and his experience
and leadership will help America West to deliver consistent, quality customer
service,” said Doug Parker, president.  “Anthony`s management of our in-flight
organization has been very successful and we are looking forward to the
positive impact he will create throughout our airport operations.”
 
Mule will work closely with the vice president of customers, Joette
Schmidt.  Schmidt will continue to serve as the customer advocate at the
senior level and report directly to Parker.
 
Mule joined America West in June 1996 as vice president of in-flight
services.  In that role, Mule oversaw several key projects from enhancing
America West`s on-board meal service, to the purchase and installation of
automatic external defibrillators on America West`s aircraft.  He has also
managed growth by successfully increasing the work force to more than
2,500 flight attendants.
 
Prior to joining America West, Mule served as president and chief
operating officer of Supershuttle, a nationwide ground transportation company.
Previously he served for 20 years in the airline industry in operations posts
as a senior vice president at Pan Am World Airways and an officer at American
Airlines.

Mule received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from New York
University in 1972.  He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Pepperdine
University in 1985.  He also served in the U.S. Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran.
