Bane To Join America West As Senior Vice President, Human Resources

America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) today
announced the appointment of Lonnie D. Bane as senior vice president, human
resources.  Bane will be responsible for overseeing human resources functions
for America West Airlines, The Leisure Company and America West Holdings
Corporation`s e-business division.

“Lonnie brings to America West more than 20 years of progressive human
resources experience, and we are pleased to welcome him to the senior
management team,” said William A. Franke, chairman and chief executive
officer.  “As we pursue the strategic growth of the airline and continue to
develop our related businesses, Lonnie`s role will be to lead the development
of human resources strategies that aid in the recruitment, professional growth
and retention of America West employees.”
 
Bane joins America West from Corporate Express, a transportation logistics
company, where he has directed that company`s human resources, business
development and support services since 1998.  Prior to Corporate Express, Bane
served in senior human resources management roles with Cemex USA,
AlliedSignal, Inc., Mobil Oil Corporation and Frito-Lay, Inc.
 
Bane holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and
industrial relations from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska.  He and his
wife Darla and their three children are relocating to the Phoenix area.
