America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA)
announced today that it is expanding its Airbus aircraft fleet with a firm
order for four A319s. All four aircraft will be delivered in 2001, bringing
to 14 the number of new Airbus Industrie aircraft to be delivered to America
West next year. The A319s will be powered by International Aero Engines`
V2500s, which are equipped with 24,000 pounds of thrust. The aircraft will be
configured with 12 first class and 112 coach seats.
America West Airlines, the nation`s ninth-largest carrier, serves
88 destinations with more than 860 daily departures in the U.S., Canada and
