America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) today
announced the election of James Sabourin as vice president, corporate
communications. Sabourin will be responsible for overseeing the company`s
media relations and employee communications.
“Jim is an experienced communications professional and we welcome him to
the management team,” said Stephen Johnson, senior vice president and chief
administrative officer. “As we pursue the strategic growth of the airline and
continue to develop our related businesses, Jim`s role will be to lead the
development of strategies to increase and improve communications with our
employees, customers, business partners and the communities we serve.”
Sabourin joins America West from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. where
he served for more than eight years directing that company`s media and other
corporate communications activities. Prior to Burlington Northern, Sabourin
was with Electronic Data Systems Corp. for eight years managing public
Sabourin holds a bachelor of science degree in journalism and public
relations from Florida State University. He is accredited in public relations
by the Public Relations Society of America.
