America West`s Fleet Service Workers Approve Collective Bargaining Agreement

America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) today
announced that the airline`s fleet service workers, represented by the
Transportation Workers Union, have ratified a five-year collective bargaining
agreement.  The fleet service workgroup includes more than 2,200 employees.
The contract, tentatively agreed last month between the company and the TWU,
was approved by a majority of 74 percent of the voting employees.
 
“We are pleased to have reached this agreement,” said William A. Franke,
chairman and chief executive officer.  “The contract addresses key issues
raised by the workgroup while allowing the airline to maintain its
productivity and strategic cost advantage.”
 
America West Airlines, the nation`s ninth-largest carrier, serves 88
destinations with more than 860 daily departures in the U.S., Canada and
