Thomas Weir To Join America West As Vice President and Treasurer

America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA)
announced today the appointment of Thomas T. Weir as vice president and
treasurer.  Weir will oversee all of the company`s treasury activities
including corporate finance, cash management and tax planning.
 
“We`re pleased to welcome Tom to our senior management group,” said Doug
Parker, executive vice president.  “Tom`s experience, financial expertise and
demonstrated leadership will be of great value to America West as we continue
to grow the airline and further strengthen our balance sheet.”
 
Weir joins America West from Airbus Industrie of North America where he
served 12 years in a variety of financial management and customer finance
positions, most recently as sales finance director.  Prior to joining Airbus,
Weir held treasury and financial management positions with Saab Aircraft of
America, Inc., and business development positions with CIT Corporation.  Weir
earned a master`s of business administration and a bachelor`s degree in
accounting from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
