New Northwest Service Between Memphis And Madison Begins October 27

Northwest Airlines today announced that its new daily nonstop jet service between its Memphis, Tenn. hub and Madison, Wis., makes Madison easily accessible through Northwestå‘s three domestic hubs. Service between Madison and Memphis will begin on October 27, 2002.
“With this expanded air service between these two great cities, we have improved convenience to all of our three domestic hubs,” said Dirk McMahon, senior vice president customer service. “Passengers will also enjoy the comfort that Northwest’s ARJ will provide on this route.”

The new Memphis - Madison service will be operated by Northwest Airlink partner, Mesaba, using the airline’s 69-seat ARJ. The aircraft features a 16-seat First Class cabin and 53 seats in the Coach cabin, making it the most spacious regional jet in the industry. The ARJ is the only regional jet in the country with a First Class section and offers other cabin amenities similar to larger jets, such as overhead bins, a full-service galley, lavatory, and an efficient climate control system to ensure passenger comfort.

The new flights will increase Northwest’s number of daily departures out of Madison from 11 to 12 and the number of nonstop markets it serves out of Madison from two to three. Effective October 27, the airline will offer seven daily nonstops from Madison to its hub in Minneapolis/St. Paul and four daily nonstops from Madison to its hub in Detroit.

The new flights are currently open for sale through www.nwa.com, Northwest Airlines Reservations at 1-800-225-2525 or through travel agencies.
