America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) and
EVA Airways announced a codeshare agreement which, subject to government
approval, will connect passengers from EVA`s daily nonstop Taipei service to
Los Angeles and San Francisco to America West`s hubs in Phoenix and Las Vegas.
Pending U.S. Department of Transportation approval, the agreement is scheduled
for initiation this summer.

“This codeshare agreement will enhance service for our customers to Asia
making travel to and from popular destinations easier and more convenient,”
said Mike Smith, senior vice president, marketing and sales, America West
Airlines.  “We are delighted to be associated with EVA Airways, a recognized
world class carrier.”

“Las Vegas and Phoenix are very popular destinations for travelers from
throughout Asia,” said K.W. Nieh, deputy senior vice president, EVA Air.
“This new agreement means EVA Air can give its passengers easier access to Las
Vegas and Phoenix, and it creates opportunities for shared benefits.  We
welcome America West as our new partner.”

America West`s strong service schedule from the West Coast international
gateway cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco was a key factor in the
codeshare arrangement.  EVA operates 14 weekly flights between Los Angeles and
Taipei and seven between San Francisco and Taipei.

than 90 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico offering travelers the
same full-service product they have come to expect from other national
