Again, On Resignation Of Mr Domenico Cempella

At a meeting today, the Alitalia Board of Directors took note of the resignations of the Chief Executive Officer, Domenico Cempella, and expressed their most sincere gratitude for the valuable services rendered during his period in office, requesting the President to convey their unanimous thanks to the resigning CEO.

The Board also took note of the suggestions put forward by the President concerning the proposed appointment of Francesco Mengozzi as a new member who would take over the position of Alitalia`s Chief Executive Officer with its related statutory powers. The President expressed his appreciation of the high level of professionalism shown in the candidate`s Curriculum Vitae.

The Board of Directors will meet again on Friday, February 9, 2001, in order to take the formal steps required for the new appointment.
