Aer Lingus Invests In New Heathrow Facility For Business Customers

Irish Business Travellers Get Dedicated Security Channel at World`s Busiest Airport

Aer Lingus has invested further in facilities for its business customers with the introduction, from today, February 1st, of a dedicated security clearance channel at Heathrow airport, the world`s busiest.

Fast Track is a new security clearance channel exclusive to Aer Lingus Premier customers travelling between London Heathrow and Ireland. Aer Lingus customers will by-pass the existing queuing system and get to their departure gate more quickly, without delay and with less queuing.

The new facility is located parallel to the existing multi-point security operation at the entrance to the departure gates. The service, which has a separate dedicated entrance, is available for Premier customers to Cork, Dublin or Shannon.

In May of this year the airline will take delivery of the first of four new Airbus A321 aircraft to operate on the London route. The larger aircraft will add capacity to the route which is estimated to grow annually by 10%.
“The airline has invested heavily in our business customers and the introduction of Fast Track reaffirms our determination to differentiate the Aer Lingus service from the competition”, said the Aer Lingus Marketing Director, David Bunworth.

“Aer Lingus is determined to continue to put the customer first and improvements in airport facilities is a key part of our commitment to our customers in our Programme for a Better Airline”, Mr Bunworth added. “We must find ways of making the businessperson`s journey smoother and more hassle-free. Fast Track is another step in that direction”, he said.

In 1996, Aer Lingus changed its business class product renaming the old Executive product Premier. Since then, the business class cabin now has more space with five-abreast seating, extra seat width and a completely upgraded onboard service. Improvements for business customers on the ground include dedicated check-in and priority boarding facilities and the addition of this Fast Track service which will further erode queuing times.

Aer Lingus was voted “Best London” airline by business travellers in Ireland, and “Best UK/European Airline” by the Irish travel trade community.
