The Chief Executive Officer at Airways Corporation of New Zealand Craig Sinclair is to join Air New Zealand as the airline group`s Chief Information Officer.
“We are delighted to have someone of Craig`s calibre and standing in the international airline industry joining the company`s senior executive team,” the Managing Director and CEO of Air New Zealand Ralph Norris said in announcing the appointment today.
“He joins us at a particularly opportune time, as we start a major new phase in the development of the Group`s information systems, which are among the largest and most complex in the country,” he added.
Craig Sinclair was appointed Chief Executive Officer at Airways Corporation of New Zealand Limited in November 1996. He has led the international growth of the Corporation including development a partnership with Lockheed Martin which recently secured a US$220 million contract to develop airspace management services for the US Federal Aviation Authority.
Prior to his appointment as CEO at Airways he was the Corporation`s Deputy Chief Executive. He has held a range of executive roles within the Airways Corporation relating to the commercial performance of the organisation.
Before joining Airways in 1989, Mr Sinclair held various legal and management positions with Databank Systems Limited and was involved in electronic banking, deregulation of the banking industry and major hardware and software acquisitions.
Mr Sinclair has a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University of Wellington and has attended the Stanford Executive Programme at Stanford University, California. He is also a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management and a Fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society.
He will take up his appointment at Air New Zealand on 9 September.
