Virgin Atlantic Cargo Wins `Cargo Airline Of The Year 2002`

Virgin Atlantic Cargo, the highly successful cargo division of Virgin Atlantic Airways, has been named `Cargo Airline of the Year 2002` at the industry`s most prestigious event, `The Cargo Airline of the Year Awards`. This top accolade, voted for by readers of one of the world`s leading air cargo trade publications, comes only two weeks after the airline was voted `Best Transatlantic Airline` at a major travel industry event, The Travel Weekly Globe Awards 2002.
Sir Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airways, said:
“I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who have worked so hard to continually provide our customers with the top quality service they have come to expect from our airline. This award is voted for by members of the airfreight industry and is therefore a very personal award, reflecting the views of our customers` worldwide.

The downturn within the aviation industry severely affected the cargo sector as well as the travel industry. We have therefore been competing in a marketplace as tough as any of us have ever experienced before. This award illustrates why we are confident that by being committed to our customers and offering them a superior service and value for money, Virgin Atlantic Cargo has come through the challenges in better shape than our rivals. Through the decisive action we took last year we are in a position to take advantage of new opportunities in the future.”

Virgin Atlantic Cargo was also named `Best Airline to North America 2002`.

Air Cargo News has been coordinating the awards for the last 19 years. Winners are voted for from the whole air cargo spectrum including freight agents and commercial companies worldwide.
