Impact Of Alliances Correctly Foreseen

Laurels for Jürgen Weber
Aviation Week & Space Technology has conferred “Laurels 2000” awards on Lufthansa Chairman and CEO Jürgen Weber and the Chairman and CEO of United Airlines, James Goodwin. Announcing the awards, the prestigious aviation magazine paid tribute to their role in creating the Star Alliance.
“The two chief executives correctly gauged the impact that globalization would have on the airline industry and the potential that alliances offered for increasing business and cutting costs,” said the magazine. The “Laurels” will be presented at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington on April 25.
Four years ago, Aviation Week & Space Technology named Jürgen Weber “Aerospace Laureate for 1997” in recognition of his services in Lufthansa`s renewal process.
