Lufthansa Technik: Major Order From Mideast Head Of State

VIP Service means much more than just completing the cabin
A major order from another Mideast head of state further strengthens the leading position of Lufthansa Technik (LHT) in the outfitting and comprehensive servicing of VIP aircraft in sizes up to that of the Boeing 747-400.
Under a first-of-its-kind all-inclusive program involving a volume of services valued at nearly 300 million dollars the new VIP customer will be looking to Lufthansa Technik not only for completing his customized aircraft`s cabin. In this turnkey project LHT will also be providing full support in procure-ment of the aircraft, in writing its system specifications, supervising its construction at the manufacturer`s plant and ensuring the implementation of modifications. LHT will likewise be responsible for final acceptance of the plane and for conducting its test flights. In addition, it will be helping to prepare the customer`s operational home base.
“We are particularly proud to have been entrusted with the responsibility for such a large project from this important customer,” said LHT Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales Jürgen Wilken with obvious satisfaction. “Lufthansa Technik is probably the only provider in the world able to deliver to the customer a turnkey project of this magnitude.”

In 2002 the Mideast customer, who prefers to remain anonymous, will be bringing his Boeing 747-400 to Hamburg for completion of its cabin. The latter will include sleeping quarters, a conference room, work areas, the latest airborne entertainment and communication systems as well as state-of-the-art medical facilities. Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg will deliver the finished aircraft before the end of 2003.
The customer is also negotiating with LHT a multi-year contract for the complete technical servicing of his fleet under the Lufthansa Technik Total Technical Support (TTS) program. LHT has already been servicing his jumbo jets for the past two years.
