Cathay Pacific Releases June Traffic Figures

Cathay Pacific Airways carried 942,711 passengers in June, bringing the total for the first six months of the year to 5.75 million, or 11.1% more than the same period in 1999. The strongest growth during the first half of this year has been on routes to Europe and North Asia, both rising 13.6% in terms of revenue passenger kilometres.

In June, Cathay Pacific carried 62,156 tonnes of freight, bringing the total for the year so far to 358,266 tonnes. This represents an increase of 16.2% over the first half of 1999. The cargo and mail load factor rose to 73.4% in the first half, up from 71.8% in the same period in 1999.


Cathay Pacific`s General Manager Network Revenue Ian Shiu said: “We continue to be very pleased with the strength in our traffic figures, particularly in the area of cargo and mail. Advance bookings remain encouraging so we hope to be able to maintain these good results through the remainder of the year.”
