Cathay Pacific Celebrates E-Business Launch With notiFLY Expansion

Cathay Pacific Airways today marked the first anniversary of the launch of its comprehensive e-Business strategy with the announcement that its notiFLY Flight Paging service has now been expanded worldwide. Mobile phone subscribers in every country served by Cathay Pacific can now receive automatic notiFLY text messages to confirm their chosen flight arrival or departure times and advise them of any changes. These messages are available in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Cathay Pacific`s Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive David Turnbull said: “When we announced our e-Business Strategy on 17 October last year we made it clear that we were looking at projects offering service enhancements for our customers and revenue enhancements for the airline. In these difficult economic times those objectives are now more relevant than ever. The new worldwide notiFLY service is an excellent example of a product that makes life easier for our customers and reduces the cost of distributing accurate, timely flight information all around the world.”

To request a notiFLY message passengers or their friends and colleagues simply enter the flight details and their mobile phone number via either the Cathay Pacific Website - - or a handheld device such as a Palm PDA. Customers checking in online can simply select the notiFLY option as part of the process.

When the notiFLY service for mobile phone users was launched last year it was available in Hong Kong. Soon Taiwan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and, Thailand were added. Today the free service has been expanded to another 33 countries and territories namely - Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA and Vietnam.

In addition to mobile phone messages, notiFLY can also send flight arrival or departure details via email. Long-haul flights can often arrive well ahead of schedule but with notiFLY family and friends get plenty of notice when to be at the airport. Many thousands of customers use the service every month including chauffeurs collecting clients and courier services awaiting urgent packages. During disruptions such as typhoons the service has proved extremely popular.
