Air Canada Reports Unconsolidated December Traffic

Air Canada flew 4.1 per cent more revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in December 1998 than in the same month of 1997, according to preliminary traffic figures.  Traffic for December 1998 was 1,723 million RPMs compared to 1,655 million RPMs for the same period in 1997.
Total capacity for the month increased by 0.4 per cent on a year-over-year basis.  Total available seat miles (ASMs) for December 1998 were 2,624 million compared to 2,614 million in December 1997.
The network passenger load factor for December 1998 was 65.7 per cent, up 2.4 percentage points from the 63.3 per cent reported in December 1997.
System cargo traffic for the month was 72 million revenue ton miles, compared with 78 million revenue ton miles in December 1997.
