Air Canada Launches Codeshare Service Between Canada And Bucharest

Air Canada is introducing daily service to Bucharest, Romania on a codeshare basis via Frankfurt with its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa. The service begins June 15, 1999. Seats are now available for sale.
“This new service will further strengthen Air Canada`s hub-to-hub routes with Lufthansa and create more travel choices for our international customers,” said Danielle Poudrette, Vice President, Marketing, Air Canada. “With this service, Air Canada now offers customers 22 cities beyond Frankfurt with Lufthansa.”
Air Canada`s daily flights between Toronto/Montreal/Calgary/Vancouver and Frankfurt will offer conveniently-timed flights for customers connecting to and from Bucharest. The daily Frankfurt-Bucharest service, operated by Lufthansa, offers customers a wide range of advantages including: accumulation and redemption of Aeroplan frequent flyer points, advance seat selection and business class seating.
With this new codeshare service, and other services offered in conjunction with Star Alliance partners and British Midland, Air Canada now offers service to 39 European markets - in addition to its own year-round non-stop flights to seven European destinations.
Air Canada`s service has recently garnered a number of international awards including `Best Airline for Travel to Canada` voted by readers of Business Traveler International magazine. In addition, Air Canada was voted best Passenger Service airline in the world by Air Transport World magazine and was also honoured with four distinctions at the 1999 OAG Airline of the Year Awards including Best North American Domestic Airline.
