Air Canada Reports Unconsolidated July Traffic

Air Canada flew 2,459 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in July 1999, a decrease of 2.8 per cent from 2,530 million RPMs in July 1998.

Total capacity for the month decreased by 5.8 per cent on a year-over-year basis. Total available seat miles (ASMs) for July 1999 were 3,249 million compared to 3,448 million in July 1998.

The network passenger load factor for July 1999 was 75.7 per cent, up 2.3 percentage points from the 73.4 per cent reported in July 1998.

“Our strategy of removing capacity is clearly having the intended effect of improving our load factors,” commented Danielle Poudrette, Vice President, Marketing. “This is our best July load factor performance in recent years.”

System cargo traffic for the month was 79 million revenue ton miles, compared with 80 million revenue ton miles in July 1998.
