Air Canada Provides Update On Pilot Negotiations

Air Canada said today that at the request of
the Minister of Labour and by agreement of the company and the Air Canada
Pilots Association (ACPA), the validity of the strike vote taken by ACPA has
been extended to September 1, 2000 (from August 25).

Both parties agree that neither will give notice of strike or lockout
prior to August 29, 2000. Normal operations will continue. According to
Canadian labour law, a union must give 72 hours notice prior to taking any
strike action.
