Air Canada Welcomes U.S. Department of Transportation Decision to Allow Air Canada to Resume Flights

Air Canada welcomed U.S. Transportation
Secretary Mineta`s announcement today that Air Canada has been authorized to
resume operations into Washington`s Reagan National Airport from Toronto as
early as Friday October 26, 2001.

Air Canada is working with the Canadian federal government to ensure
compliance with all security requirements for operations into Reagan National
including the presence of sky marshals.
The airline is proceeding with the installation of cockpit door
reinforcements while a decision from the Canadian government on funding of
onboard security measures remains outstanding. The U.S. government has already
committed to funding U.S. carriers for implementing onboard security
enhancements including reinforcement of cockpit doors.
Confirmation of a start up date and flight schedule details for Air
Canada flights to Reagan National will be announced once finalized.
