American Airlines Traffic Down In December From Last Year

December Dependability Up Year over Year

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines reported its systemwide traffic, including TWA, in December decreased 17.4 percent from a year ago, on a capacity decrease of 15.3 percent. The system load factor was 67.2 percent, down 1.7 points from December 2000.

American’s December on-time dependability, reported to the Department of Transportation, was 81.8 percent, up from 60.8 percent reported in December 2000. The airline’s completion factor, the number of flights flown expressed as a percentage of the number of flights scheduled, for the month was 99.7 percent, compared to 91.4 percent a year ago.

International traffic in December was down 21.9 percent, while international capacity was down 20.6 percent. Domestic traffic was down 15.4 percent year over year on a capacity decrease of 13.1 percent.

American boarded 7.2 million passengers in December, down 15.6 percent from December a year ago.
