Southwest Airlines Names Area Marketing Manager


DALLAS, July 5 /PRNewswire/—Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) recently
named Steve Rubin as area marketing manager for Raleigh-Durham.  Rubin began
his new venture on May 28.

“I am so excited to be part of the Southwest family,” said Rubin.  “I am
concentrating on spreading the spirit of Southwest to the Raleigh-Durham area
and beyond.”

As area marketing manager Rubin will oversee the marketing efforts in the
Raleigh-Durham area.  His responsibilities also include corporate sales,
community events, and media relations.

Rubin has been working in the media industry for more than five years.
Before joining the Southwest family on the East Coast, Rubin was a news
producer at KOMO-TV in Seattle, Wash.  Early in his career he was a news
reporter/anchor in Abilene, Texas then went on to be a news producer in Fort
Myers, Fla.

“I am thrilled that Steve Rubin is representing Southwest Airlines in the
Raleigh-Durham area,” said Tammy Otero-Jacobson, Southwest Airlines district
marketing manager.  “His past experience in the media industry and his
enthusiasm will be a great asset for the community.”

Southwest began service to Raleigh-Durham in June 1999 with 12 daily
nonstop departures to five cities.  In three years, Southwest has increased
its service by offering 20 daily nonstop departures to ten different cities
with connecting service to 38 additional cities.
