Get Me To The Beach On Time

No fuss, no stress just a fantasy wedding abroad. That’s the cry from thousands of couples who are choosing to tie the knot overseas.

From wacky to wildly romantic, British Airways Holidays is offering the lot in its new Weddings 2001 brochure just launched.

Kenya, Mexico, Thailand, Cuba and exotic Fiji are all new wedding destinations for 2001. Couples can marry aboard a traditional Arabic Dhow in Kenya; get away from it all on Castaway Island in Fiji; or experience a traditional Thai ceremony in Phuket or Koh Samui. They can be blessed aboard the Royal Clipper yacht while cruising the Caribbean or choose between glitter and grandeur in Las Vegas at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel.

Of the 100 hotels featured within the brochure nearly half offer free weddings. Where there is a cost, prices start from just £179 per couple at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort in the Seychelles to £1,589 per couple to marry on the banks of the Colorado River in the depths of the Grand Canyon.

Mauritius is the most popular destination this year, beating the more traditional Caribbean destinations and free weddings are offered at the Sugar Beach Resort in Mauritius for the first time.

“Weddings abroad are booming” says Katherine Daniel, commercial manager, British Airways Holidays. “Whether it’s a Cuban beach wedding or exchanging vows in a helicopter over Vegas, more and more couples are going abroad to marry. And now we even offer a special package for the renewal of vows in the Caribbean.

“Much of the success of Mauritius is the demand for top quality hotels. So we have identified the hotels worldwide that are of outstanding quality. Weddings and honeymoons at these hotels include, at no extra charge, the ‘stress-free’ benefits of airport lounge on departure in the UK, private transfers in resort and late check out,” says Daniels.

The Top Five Wedding Destinations for 2000 are:
Mauritius
St Lucia
Barbados
