Aer Lingus: Introduction of @erfares

Aer Lingus, the national airline of Ireland, has announced “@erfares,” the online airfare sale that never ends.

As of today, customers will no longer need to wait for short-term sale fares. By logging onto this website, they will have access to the cheapest Aer Lingus fares to Ireland. @erfares is as simple as a click on the home page`s “From USA” section. With on-line access 365 days a year, @erfares eliminates the need to wait for a special sale.

@erfares is unique in that Aer Lingus is constantly monitoring its inventory, for travel both close in and long term to determine where and when we can offer our customers added savings. “The availability of @erfares will be ongoing, but seats will be limited,” said Jack Foley executive vice president North America. “So customers seeing these fares should act quickly,” he added.

For example, as of July 1, market fares* for midweek, oneway travel between JFK and Shannon for late August are $279. @erfares for the same time period is $249, representing a savings of over 10%. The same routing for travel in September and October has a public fare of $229 and an @erfare of $199, a 13% savings. Aer Lingus` published winter fare for this routing is $159 with an @erfare of $134, or a 16% discount.

“In addition, with @erfares, customers need not worry that Aer Lingus fares are cheaper elsewhere. They simply can go to aerlingus.com and receive the best deal Aer Lingus has to offer, guaranteed,” said Mr. Foley.

Mr. Foley continued, ” @erfares is the latest step in our campaign to aggressively lower fares to our customers. By using the internet we eliminate the need for short term advertised seat sales and replace that costly, inefficient practice with a program that lets the consumer monitor our sales 365 days a year.”

* fares exclude taxes and are based upon roundtrip travel.
