Fireworks Not Allowed on American Airlines Flights

FORT WORTH, Texas - With the July 4th holiday approaching, American Airlines reminds its passengers that fireworks are not allowed on passenger flights.

Most fireworks fall into an explosives classification that restricts the transportation of fireworks to cargo aircraft only, and in some cases fireworks can only move via surface transportation.

The National Council on Fireworks Safety is one of the many organizations that endeavor to assist the public to celebrate/commemorate and use fireworks safely. Some tips and reminders can be found on its Web site at American reminds customers to always act with the interests of safety in mind.

—Use fireworks only as they were designed to be used // Never use fireworks indoors // Always supervise children using fireworks to prevent injury or damage to property // Never pack fireworks in your checked or carry-on luggage when traveling
