British Airways’ new summer schedule at London Gatwick lifts off on Sunday 25 March and focuses on the airline’s strategy to develop viable, point-to-point services at the airport.

The summer season highlights include:

A direct non-stop service to San Diego
The first scheduled service to the Turks and Caicos Islands
Increased flights to Houston and Buenos Aires
Upgrade from turboprop to jet operations for growing shorthaul routes.

Long haul improvements include the launch of a direct non stop daily service to San Diego, cutting the total journey time by five hours. The new service operating with a B777, departing daily at 1115hrs, replaces the current flight which routed via Phoenix.

The daily Phoenix service will continue from London Gatwick departing early afternoon and will also operate with a Boeing 777. Services to Houston will increase from seven to 10 flights per week, compared to last summer’s programme.

Flights to Buenos Aires increase to six times a week with services operated by 777s instead of 5 times a week Boeing 747-400s.

The first scheduled flights from the UK to the Turks and Caicos islands will start from London Gatwick on June 3. The once a week Sunday flight will go via Nassau to Providenciales - the islands’ main resort.

Short haul highlights feature the peak weekday services to Brussels, Luxembourg and Dusseldorf being upgraded to brand new RJ100 jets, offering the full Club Europe on-board product.

The Toulouse and Bordeaux services revert from Air Liberte to CityFlyer Express, the wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways, using RJ100 jets. These services will continue to arrive and depart from the North Terminal from where the majority of British Airways flights operate.

London Gatwick to Toulouse has a new schedule to offer an improved day trip for business travellers. The three times daily flights include a new early morning departure.

London Gatwick to Bordeaux services reduce to twice daily flights but will offer a later evening departure from Bordeaux to allow for a longer working day in the region for business executives.

Bilbao’s twice daily flights and Venice’s three times a day services celebrate their first summer at London Gatwick.

British Airway’s franchise partner GB Airways will also celebrate its first anniversary of flights to Tenerife. The airline is also increasing capacity on services to Nantes in France - flights increase to twelve times a week - and larger aircraft will feature on services to Tunisia.
