In the view of the Finnish travel trade, Finnair is the Best Airline in the World. In their annual Choice of the Year awards for 2002, the trade magazine Ikkunapaikka (Window Seat) and Amadeus Finland, awarded Finnair almost a quarter, or 24.8 per cent of the vote for Best in the World, and 70.2 per cent for Best in Europe.

The vote was collected in May through the travel trade Internet portal, Amadeus Amanda, with votes counted from 615 travel professional poll participants. In 2001 the Best in the World award went to Thai Airlines, although Finnair took the Best in Europe prize also then.
