Cathay Pacific`s Studiocx scores goals in June


Cathay Pacific Airways today announced details of its World Cup coverage on StudioCX - the airline`s acclaimed inflight entertainment brand. Regular updates on the latest results from the games in Japan and Korea plus the upcoming match schedule will be available to passengers on all inbound flights to Hong Kong via the Airshow channel on passengers` personal televisions.

There will be two live inflight updates every day at 8am and 5pm up until the quarter final stage of the World Cup. Then, from 15 June onwards, the inflight updates will follow immediately after each match is played. A weekly highlight of the World Cup will also be shown after the CNN daily news during the last 3 weeks of the championship.

During June StudioCX also offers a great array of blockbuster movies with two football-themed specials. The vintage Escape to Victory stars Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone and Max von Sydow, while contemporary British football comedy Mean Machine stars Vinnie Jones. Other big-name movies, comedies and features include:

* Birthday Girl with Nicole Kidman * Dragonfly with Kevin Costner * Enigma with Kate Winslet * I Am Sam with Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer * Monsters, Inc. with the voices of Billy Crystal & John Goodman

Cathay Pacific offers a strong showing of Asian entertainment, including at least five Asian movies each month, from Hong Kong, Korea or Japan. This month includes:

* 2002 starring Nicholas Tse, Sam Lee and Stephen Fung * Marry a rich Man starring Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren * War of the Genders starring Do Do Cheng.


Popular television comedy shows on board the Laughter channel include Friends, Will & Grace and That `70s Show. In June Lonely Planet Treks through remote eastern Canada, and World of Travel visits South Korea - co-host of the World Cup. On the Kidz channel StudioCX features include Disney Time, and Sleeping Beauty.

The new StudioCX brand offers passengers the widest choice of entertainment - more than doubling the previous choice to over 20 channels of video entertainment. On long-haul flights a high-tech AVOD (audio and video on demand) network is also being progressively installed for First and Business Class passengers. The extra channels are progressively being installed on all aircraft in First, Business and Economy Class. Well over half of Cathay Pacific`s fleet now have the new systems.
