PHOENIX, /PRNewswire-FirstCall/—Mesa Air Group, Inc. reported its preliminary traffic figures, on-time performance, and completion rate figures for May 2002. Year-over-year revenue passenger miles increased 18.2% in May 2002 to 194.7 million, compared to 164.7 million in May 2001.
Total available seat miles increased 8.6% in May 2002 to 312.0 million from 287.4 million in May 2001 and passengers carried increased 9.8% to 486,378 from 442,752 a year ago. Load factor increased to 62.4% in May 2002 versus 57.3% in May 2001, an increase of 5.1 points. Mesa`s controllable completion rate, which excludes weather-related cancellations, was 97.1% in May. Mesa Air Group`s on-time arrival performance for the month of May was 84.1%. In April 2002, the most recent month with data available for comparative purposes, Mesa`s on-time arrival performance was 85.5%, which would have ranked it second when compared to the top 10 reporting carriers.
