United Airlines Kicks Off Summer Travel Season with Continued Operational Excellence


CHICAGO, May 30, 2002 - United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) congratulates its employees for providing over one million United passengers with unparalleled service over the Memorial Day holiday weekend as the airline continued its record-breaking performance.


For the period between May 23 and May 27, United completed 99.9% of its nearly 8,400 departures. Ninety percent of United`s flights arrived early, on-time or within 14 minutes of their scheduled arrival time and 77% left exactly on time or early.


“United`s employees continue to ensure that more of our flights are arriving on-time, with fewer cancellations, which we think is a great way to start out the busy summer travel season,” said Andy Studdert, United`s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “But make no mistake, we won`t rest on our laurels. United will continue to strive to provide its customers with the industry`s top service and the best travel experience.”


United recently scored a one-day, company-best by having almost 93 percent of its departures leave within five minutes of their scheduled times.
