British Airways: Flight Delays and Cancellations

17th May 2002

British Airways is experiencing a number of flight delays and cancellations today (Friday May 17, 2002) due to an air traffic control systems failure in Swanwick.

The airline is in contact with National Air Traffic Services (NATS) to establish what the full impact will be.

All flights in and out of London are likely to experience delays.

British Airways has so far cancelled 14 return flights to Europe from Gatwick and Heathrow.

British Airways customers should telephone the airline on 0800 727 800 to check the status of their flight before setting off for the airport.

The airline would like to apologise to its customers for the inconvenience caused. While the situation is outside its control, British Airways will do its utmost to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
