ATA to Offer Daily Service Between Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Chicago

INDIANAPOLIS—(BUSINESS WIRE)—May 13, 2002—ATA (American Trans Air, Inc.) (Nasdaq:AMTR), the nation`s 10th largest passenger carrier, and Chicago Express Airlines, Inc. (doing business as ATA Connection), today announced plans to offer four daily, non-stop round-trip flights between The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids and Chicago-Midway.

This new service will give Cedar Rapids customers access through Chicago-Midway to many of ATA`s business and leisure destinations. The service begins August 15, 2002. Customers can make reservations beginning today.

“ATA is excited to offer convenient service and low fares to Cedar Rapids,” said Gary Marsh, President of ATA Connection. “With continuing service to over 40 destinations through Chicago-Midway, Cedar Rapids customers will find a great variety of choices to fulfill both business and leisure travel needs.”

“The Airport`s Marketing Program was the basis for attracting ATA, but to close the deal we needed help from the City of Cedar Rapids and the Chamber,” said Cheryle Mitvalsky, Chair, Cedar Rapids Airport Commission. “Both stepped up to put our proposal over the top.”

“Cedar Rapids has never had an option like the one presented to us by ATA, said Paul D. Pate, Mayor of the City of Cedar Rapids. “Whether it is business or leisure travel, the kinds of fares that ATA brings to this area are very welcome.”

“The opportunity for increased business due to lower fares will help Cedar Rapids as we extend our reach both regionally and nationally. This is why it was important for me to travel to speak with ATA directly. This is a big win for Cedar Rapids.”

“The strength of The Eastern Iowa Airport has always been an asset to economic development and growth in the Technology Corridor,” said Ron Corbett, President of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our existing businesses in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City region rely on excellent air service, and new businesses certainly look at the airport as one sign of a community`s vibrancy. This is another great improvement to the air service.”

ATA`s special introductory fares of $69 each way between Cedar Rapids and Chicago-Midway are available for travel beginning August 15, 2002, to October 16, 2002, and must be purchased by June 30, 2002, midnight (E.S.T.).
