Cathay Pacific`s Studio(cx) inflight entertainment in May


Cathay Pacific Airways today released details of some of the blockbuster movies appearing during May on Studiocx - the airline`s acclaimed inflight entertainment brand. Films on the Premiere! channel include Oscar-winning drama A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe and a host of other big-name movies, comedies and features:

* Gosford Park with Maggie Smith and Kristen Scott-Thomas * Ocean`s Eleven with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts * Shallow Hal with Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow * The Majestic with Jim Carrey and Martin Landau * The Royal Tenenbaums with Gene Hackman, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow * The Shipping News with Kevin Spacey, Julianna Moore and Judi Dench
Popular television comedy shows on board the Laughter channel this month also include Friends, Absolutely Fabulous, Trigger Happy TV, and Seinfeld. Studiocx infotainment from Discovery Channel includes Adventure Crazy - touring California by bike and boat, and Extreme Australia - a journey down under introducing the creatures and geologic oddities unique to that continent. World of Travel visits South Korea.

Paleoworld this month showcases The Troodon - one of the most intelligent and hardy of dinosaurs whose success as a predator was apparently responsible for slowing mammal evolution by a million years. Meanwhile on the Kidz channel Studiocx features childrens` favourites such as Snow White, Toy Story 2, and Sleeping Beauty.

Cathay Pacific also offers daily TV news in Cantonese from TVBI on its routes to Hong Kong from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and London. Cathay Pacific is the only airline in the world to offer daily news in Cantonese on these inbound services -taken direct from satellite shortly before departure. Cathay Pacific is also the first airline in the world to offer live BBC World Service radio news on board. English-language television news from CNN is also offered inflight.

The new Studiocx brand offers passengers the widest choice of entertainment - more than doubling the previous choice to over 20 channels of video entertainment. On long-haul flights a high-tech AVOD (audio and video on demand) network is also being progressively installed for First and Business Class passengers allowing them to select the exact programme they want, when they want it, and to stop, start or fast-forward at will. The extra channels of Studiocx entertainment are progressively being installed on all aircraft in First, Business and Economy Class. Well over half of Cathay Pacific`s fleet have the new systems. Every passenger today now also has a personal TV.
