BA: Flying home the FA Cup
British Airways will be lifting the FA Cup high into the air on Saturday night, whichever side wins, as both finalists fly back from Cardiff to London with the airline.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal football clubs have chartered their own British Airways’ aircraft for officials and staff to fly to and from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the showpiece final.
Chelsea have chartered a 757 and will be flying to and from Heathrow Terminal 1, while Arsenal have gone for a 777 and will be flying in and out of Luton.
The two teams will be travelling to Cardiff separately to the clubs’ officials on Friday but they will be flying back to London on Saturday evening with their respective clubs on British Airways.
Not to be outdone, almost 300 members of the official Arsenal Supporters Club are also planning to attend the Cup Final in style and have chartered a 747 to take them on the return trip down the M4 corridor from Heathrow Terminal 1 to Cardiff.
