American Airlines Issues April Traffic

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines reported its systemwide traffic in April decreased 15.9 percent from April 2001, on a capacity decrease of 13.3 percent. The system load factor was 69.3 percent, down 2.1 points from a year ago.

American’s on-time performance, reported to the Department of Transportation, was 83.8 percent, up 4.9 points from April 2001. The airline’s completion factor - the percentage of flights flown versus flights scheduled - was 98.9 percent, compared to 97.5 percent a year ago.

International traffic in April was down 22.0 percent while international capacity was down 20.3 percent. Domestic traffic was down 13.3 percent year over year on a capacity decrease of 10.5 percent.

American boarded 7.7 million passengers, down 14.9 percent from a year ago.
