Air Canada Celebrates Rapidair`s 30th Anniversary

MONTREAL, April 30 /CNW/ - Air Canada has launched a one day sale - today
only - offering one way fares between Ottawa-Toronto and Montreal-Toronto for
just $30, for travel May 4-5 and/or May 11-12 (Mother`s Day weekend). The $30
sale is part of the airline`s celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of Air
Canada`s Rapidair Service between Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal.

The Rapidair 30th anniversary one day sale is available immediately and
exclusively online at www.aircanada.ca . Air Canada has waived its $15.00 one
way fuel surcharge for this special anniversary offer.

Air Canada is also marking Rapidair`s 30th anniversary with a prize-
filled, week-long celebration from April 29 - May 3, including giving away 150
pairs of tickets to anywhere Air Canada flies in North America, through random
computer draws on random flights between Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal.

Air Canada launched its Rapidair service between Toronto and Montreal on
April 30, 1972. As a high frequency commuter service between Montreal and
Toronto on DC-8 and DC-9 aircraft. Rapidair offered 18 daily flights from each
city on an hourly basis, complimented with half hourly flights during peak
periods. Dedicated Rapidair check-in counters and departure lounges were built
in Toronto and Montreal with arrival gates conveniently located close to
ground transportation. Rapidair was an instant success and the volume of
traffic between Montreal and Toronto doubled in its first two months of
operation. In 1977, Rapidair service expanded to include Ottawa.
