DALLAS, April 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/—Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV)
today extended the deadline to purchase tickets at the discounted Friends Fly
Free fare through May 23, 2002. Originally set to expire today, this fare
allows Customers to purchase one roundtrip ticket at a special three-day
advance purchase fare and take someone along for free.
Fares begin at $59 each way for two people, based on the length of the
flight. The lowest fares can be found on short to medium length flights. For
example, Customers can travel from Baltimore/Washington to Orlando for only
$98 each way.
A flexible schedule can prove valuable, too, with the most options
available on off-peak travel days of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturdays.
Friends Fly Free fares are on sale through May 23, 2002, for travel
through the end of Southwest`s schedule (currently Sept. 13, 2002), and the
following restrictions apply. The fare requires the purchase of one roundtrip
ticket at the special Friends Fly Free fare with an overnight stay (any
night). Tickets must be purchased at least three days before departure and
within one day of making reservations. The fare-paying Customer must be at
least 18 years old. Both Customers must travel together and must checkin at
the same time. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in
itinerary could result in an increase in the fare. Fares do not include a
federal segment tax of up to $3 per takeoff and landing for the fare-paying
Customer. Fares also do not include airport-assessed passenger facility
charges up to $18 roundtrip or federal September 11th Security fees of up to
$10 roundtrip per person. Tickets are nonrefundable but (except for tickets
purchased through Southwest`s Group Tickets Program) if unused may be applied
toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest. Seats are limited and may
not be available on some flights that operate during peak or holiday travel
times. Fares are not necessarily common rated in the San Francisco Bay Area
or the Los Angeles Basin area. The offer applies only to published scheduled
