IATA Corporate Secretary - New Appointment

Following endorsement by its Board of Governors last December, the International Air Transport Association today announced the appointment of David M. O`Connor as Corporate Secretary with effect from 1 April 2002, upon the retirement of Lorne Clark. The Office of the Corporate Secretary will continue to be based in IATA`s headquarters in Montreal.
Mr. O`Connor, a U.S. citizen and formerly Special Counsel - Government and International Affairs with Pan American Airlines, has represented the interests of IATA`s worldwide membership in Washington and the U.S.A. since 1990. In parallel to his new role as Corporate Secretary, Mr. O`Connor will continue to represent IATA as Senior Director, Government and Industry Affairs (U.S.A.), working out of its Washington office.


Congratulating Mr. O`Connor on his appointment, Pierre J. Jeanniot, Director General and CEO, also publicly recognised the achievements of Lorne Clark, and his very substantial contribution to IATA, the Board of Governors and the international civil aviation community which were deeply appreciated.
